We’ve been keeping a little secret. On December 23, 2020 he popped the question! Adam and I were doing our repeat first date (a little tradition we started to celebrate our anniversary of dating) we were driving into Hubbard Park. It was the first time we took someone along for the ride. We had our puppy girl Charley with us.
There is something about Christmas lights in the darkness that is so special to me. We went around the pond and Adam said “we should stop and take pictures with Charley.” We pulled over to the stage and we were trying to capture some photos but Charley was just so excited to see all the people walking around, we couldn’t catch a good photo.
Adam said “let’s walk down to that tree” (little did I know he was trying to get us alone). Under the pavilion was a single Christmas tree with white lights. I turned around and he was on one knee. He had a very precious speech, I will always cherish. I always told him if we ever get engaged, I want to be surprised. Boy did he deliver, I was not expecting that!
Since that day we have started planning our wedding for July 2022. If you are newly engaged and want to add a sustainable & unique spin to your special day, you’re in the right place. So many dream of their wedding day. I’ve realized over the last few months how detailed it truly is to plan a wedding. As someone who cares deeply about sustainability I will be sharing some tips along the way and keeping you updated on our journey.
As we know life has not stopped during this pandemic and I wanted to create a little peace of mind (funny I know). Within two months we picked and put a deposit on our venue, ceremony, and our vendors (even hair and makeup). Many of my friends and family were surprised that we planned so far out but a lot of vendors were actually already booked. This is my biggest tip so far. Secure as many details as you can. This has allowed us both to relax and get into the creativity of envisioning the day we want to experience, as we embark on this new journey.
