My parents came to Hartford, CT as 20 year olds from Melilli, Sicilia. They owned two restaurants throughout my childhood. As the youngest of four, I caught on quick in the kitchen.
In 2012 I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that lead me to needing a pacemaker defibrillator. In true Leo fashion, I was never one to slow down on my own.
My body halted the breaks and I could finally hear her clearly. I started researching the chemicals and toxins in our food.
Each summer since, we've had a garden at our home. I began reading labels much more in depth.
I am so excited to share what I've learned in the kitchen with you. At La cucina di Silvana we cook seasonally, with whole ingredients, gut friendly, organic and full of flavor!
